The Mini’s driver (or is that captain?) has a 6-hp outboard motor at his/her disposal, which should be perfect for laying some serious wake. Built by ACI Composites Inc., based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the floating Mini includes the same headlights, taillights, grille, steering wheel, badges, wheels and tires found on production models. The front wheels rotate in the direction of travel, to further the illusion that this Mini Cooper is driving on water.

I shouldn’t have to say this but, Don’t try this at home

A utility vehicle intended for the British Army was built with a twin-engined 4-wheel-drive. Although the 4WD Moke could climb a 1:2 gradient, it lacked enough ground clearance for military use. The single-engined front-wheel-drive Moke enjoyed some popularity in civilian production. About 50,000 were made in total, from 1964 to 1968 in the UK, 1966 to 1982 in Australia and 1983 to 1989 in Portugal. The Moke was marketed in holiday locations such as Barbados and Macau, where they were also used as police cars.

Doing little things can go a long way to having a cool summer. Below, you’ll find some tips to help you and your family find ways this summer to help reduce pollution and learn about the environment.

Early detection of melanoma can save your life. A new or changing mole should be evaluated by a dermatologist.

Do Not BurnSunburns significantly increase one’s lifetime risk of developing skin cancer, especially for children.

Avoid Sun Tanning and Tanning BedsUV radiation from tanning beds and the sun causes skin cancer and wrinkling.

Generously Apply SunscreenGenerously apply about one ounce of sunscreen to cover all exposed skin 15 minutes before going outside. Sunscreen should have a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 15 and provide broad-spectrum protection from both ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays. Reapply every two hours, even on cloudy days, and after swimming or sweating.

Wear Protective ClothingWear protective clothing, such as a long-sleeved shirt, pants, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses, when possible.

Seek ShadeSeek shade when possible, and remember that the sun’s UV rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Use Extra Caution Near Water, Snow and SandWater, snow and sand reflect the damaging rays of the sun, which can increase your chance of sunburn.

Check the UV IndexThe UV Index provides important information to help you plan your outdoor activities in ways that prevent sun overexposure. The UV Index forecast is issued daily by the National Weather Service and EPA.

Get Vitamin D SafelyGet Vitamin D safely through a diet that includes vitamin supplements and foods fortified with Vitamin D. Don’t seek the sun.

“MINI customers will be able to boldly go where no driver has gone before when the all-new MINI Cooper Yachtsman makes its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show next week, right beside the Hudson River.

Designed to bring MINI ownership to people who regard the 70 percent of the earth’s surface covered by water as their home, the new MINI Cooper Yachtsman is a corner-carving crustacean that promises go-kart (boat) handling and a sensational combination of amphibious and landphibious performance on water.”

LET’S TOOT OUR OWN HORN.
BUT ONLY AFTER A BUNCH OF OTHERS HAVE FIRST.

After collecting our fair share of trophies over the years — Car of the Century, Automobile Magazine All-Star, North American Car of the Year, a Top 10 Green Car*— one might wonder if all that hardware would start to slow us down.

But it hasn’t. In fact, if anything, the accolades MINI frequently receives only push us harder to keep one-upping ourselves with every new MINI that rolls off the line. So whether its tweaking a superstar engine to deliver even more power and efficiency or adding premium features typically only found on cars twice as expensive, we refuse to rest on our motoring laurels. No matter how big the laurel pile gets.

Just ask anyone who’s been lucky enough to take a MINI through a slalom course. Unless the person happens to be a retired astronaut accustomed to pulling serious G’s, he’ll tell you it was one of the most fun, adrenaline-charged experiences of his life.

That’s because a MINI is designed to deliver incredibly tight, nimble handling that makes the driver feel in complete control. With a low center of gravity and all four wheels pushed out to the corners, a MINI’s wide stance keeps the car supremely balanced. And that translates into high-performance handling you typically only find on sports cars costing way more than a MINI.
